Cryptocoryne spiralis 'Red' is a striking crypt with long, tape-like leaves that develop a deep red-brown colour under good light. It originates from India and forms an elegant, upright clump that adds strong colour contrast to the midground of the aquarium. Like most crypts it prefers a nutrient-rich bottom and adapts steadily after planting.
Care requirements: Difficulty: Medium (per Tropica). Light demand: Medium. CO2 demand: Medium; grows well without added CO2 but colours up better with it. Growth rate: Medium. Placement: Midground. Height in tank: 10-30+ cm. Note: crypts may melt back after transplanting; new leaves normally emerge within a few weeks.
